Summary: After finding out his boyfriend, the-teen-formerly-known-as-Hulkilng-now-known-as-Teddy, has been out vigilante-ing again, Billy gets a bit… mad. They swore they’d give up the supering! But when Teddy points out all that he’s lost in the past year Billy does… well what any in-love teenager with super neato universe-bending powers (to be honest, I’m not sure what they entail exactly) would do:
He pulls his boyfriend’s dead mom from an alternate universe just before she dies.
Of course, something goes wrong and she’s not… exactly… right. But boy howdy does she try to be a great mom! I think. Well, Teddy and Billy have to team up with Loki (who is also a teenager and super untrustworthy), America Chavez, Kate Bishop, and Noh-Varr (previously Marvel Boy, now a banished Kree boy) to fight their parents who are also not…. exactly… right. Also, weren’t most of them, well, dead???

Review: I love them. I love all of them. The characters are so amazingly done and teenager-y while still being adult enough to be young adults. The way they’re written and drawn is so honest and realistic. If I was in Billy’s place, I’d also want to tear my boyfriend’s dead mom through space and time in order to reunite them. I especially love America Chavez, who is, honestly, the main reason I want to read this book. Loki’s little tête-à-tête with himself both tells of his backstory and makes him a little worthy of sympathy.

Recommendation: If you love superheroes and honestly well-written characters, Young Avengers!!!
